Next Wave CONNECT and Cook Children’s Collaborate on a Healthy Start to 2014
New specialty communities for ACOs and meaningful use provide CONNECT members with a forum to work together on challenging industry issues.
HOUSTON, Texas—Jan. 21, 2014—Next Wave CONNECT (www.nextwaveconnect.com), provider of the first healthcare industry-specific enterprise social networking application, today announced the addition of two new CONNECT communities that enable healthcare professionals to connect and collaborate while they work to meet the requirements of accountable care organizations (ACOs) and meaningful use. CONNECT member Cook Children’s Health Care System is taking advantage of several CONNECT communities, including meaningful use, privacy and security, and ICD-10.
Next Wave CONNECT creates communities around vital topics that healthcare professionals are challenged by. Community managers lead those communities by sharing their deep professional knowledge and insights, and proactively connecting members from similar organizations. The resulting online environment enables users to collaboratively solve operational, regulatory and other problems more quickly.

Cook’s official CONNECT ambassador. Haskins introduces her colleagues to CONNECT and facilitates on-boarding them to the specific communities that match their professional roles.

Next Wave CONNECT community managers provide a unique function in the social networking landscape, in a role that is the first of its kind in healthcare. Sherry Reynolds, a nationally recognized eHealth expert and patient-centered design consultant, is the CONNECT community manager assigned to lead the meaningful use community. “Sherry’s 20-plus years of experience in healthcare IT, organization development, healthcare public policy, and clinical informatics make her an ideal fit for this community,” said Becky Heflin, director of community management at Next Wave CONNECT.
Community managers can draw on additional resources, like CONNECT’s Advisory Council Experts (ACEs) and Community Advisors—healthcare industry experts with years of field experience. CONNECT ACE John Glaser, Ph.D., posted his most recent blog post on the ACO community board. He is a fellow of HIMSS, CHIME, and the American College of Medical Informatics, and has published more than 150 articles and three books on the strategic application of information technology in healthcare. Dr. Glaser’s extensive, specialized knowledge is an asset to all CONNECT communities.
